Wednesday, R&R Day

Our first day without an agenda since last week.  A leisurely morning with breakfast, doing laundry and enjoying the sunshine.

Our adventure for the day was trying to find the grocery store we had visited last week.  We both thought we knew the way..... NOT!!  Between curving streets, canals, and dead ends for cars, we haven't mastered getting around the town with the car!  Never did find the one we were aiming for but another appeared on our journey so the groceries were bought.

After lunch we set out on foot for a couple of caches and ultimately to the homemade ice cream store we had been told about our first day in Sneek.  Success on all levels! The ice cream store was not too busy when we arrived, but as we sat outside to enjoy the treat, the lineup came out the door.

Our other discovery of the day was that bicycles here come with a "U" shaped lock that sits behind the seat bar.  The U snaps around the frame and wheel and locks the bike.  You need a key to unlock it.

Tonight we are just chilling at home.

Thursday. OVER THE CAUSEWAY

Today our adventure is to drive over the causeway to Hoorn to pick up Pam's sister and brother in law at the train station.  They were arriving from Croatia.  The road is freeway right from Sneek.  The causeway is 30 km long with the dike on one side.  We made one stop at the monument about  3/4  of the way across

The gps took us to the 2nd station but we were able to find our way to the proper place.  Arriving at 11:30, we parked and took a short walk around the town.  It is much like Sneek, little boutiques and family stores but not as pretty.

Sheryl and Paul arrived at 12:20 and we set off for home.  Another pleasant trip back across the causeway.

The afternoon passed quietly with the excitement being Paul deciding to cut the back lawn with the smallest lawnmower ever!  Thankfully, all the clover and bees have disappeared!  After dinner we took Sheryl on her first walk through Sneek and introduced  her to the ice cream cone store!
