Tuesday.....homeward bound

Our area of Brussels goes to bed early and wakes up late.  The hotel did not include breakfast so the plan was to go to the local coffee place and get the park caches before boarding the bus.

At 7:40, the coffe house was still closed and McDonald's didn't open until 9 and the park opened at 8!!  Enroute to the park, noticed an entrance to a mall and found a coffee shop where we were able to get a small coffee (half a mug) and croissant.  On to the park as it was now after 8 and managed one of two caches.  Grabbed another coffee going back to the hotel. Brussels isn't very tourist friendly in this part of town.....

By 9:30 we were ready and waiting for the bus. Yesterday's route took us to the "old town" Todays route took us out of the city proper through neighbourhoods, past the palace gates and through the expo site (1958 I think)  Another mix of old and new forming eclectic  environs.  Thinking we were at Central station we exited the bus only to find we were a little further away than planned.  But, we needed the walk through the narrow streets and shops.  Did manage to buy some Belgian chocolates, too!

Our train left Brussels at noon.  40 minutes layover in Rotterdam was time enough for a cache (4 countries in 4 days!) and to pick up snacks for the rest of the trip.  Traveling under cloudy skies but hoping it will improve tomorrow.

Look what I found!

The rest of the trip was uneventful except for the young woman who boarded in Utrecht and sat beside us.  She then put on her eye shadow and eye liner...using her phone as a mirror.  The train was not the smoothest, and the line was absolutely perfect!  Then she did the mascara without the 'mirror'!!  Neither of us would even attempt lipstick on a moving train (I can't even put it on when I'm on firm ground and in front of a mirror!!! Pam)
