Saturday to Monday

Saturday after dropping Carol off at the Leewarden station we came back to the house in Sneek and then went for a walk through the town. It was very busy as we wandered in and out of the shops and watching boats in the canal. And cooling off with a yummy ice cream.

A hydrangia snow bank!

More hydrangas

The weather was hot and humid

Sunday we wanted to go for bike ride out in the countryside, but it was way too hot and we didn't do much. Sheryl went for a short one in the neighbourhood. We went to the grocery shopping to stock me up with groceries after Sheryl and Paul leave on Monday. They made me a really yummy dinner.....Barbeque chicken, potatoes, veggies and salad.

Sheryl and I took a walk up to the nearby that I haven't explored mainly because it didn't have any caches)....Wilhelminapark. It is the oldest park in the city. The park dates from 1898 and was built on the occasion of the inauguration of Queen Wilhelmina. The park is laid out in the English landscape style and design was landscaper Lambert Vlaskamp. The park is almost in original condition / shape. Wilhelmina Park is the second park in the Netherlands, after the Vondelpark in Amsterdam, It also solved a little mystery that I have been hearing whenever I'm sitting out on the patio.......a rooster crowing!!! In the park there is an aviary.....lots of birds and a a couple of huge rabbits.  Who would have thought!

Monday we woke up to rain....but still rather warm. I walked Sheryl and Paul down to the train station and got them on a train for Amsterdam where they are going to do some last minute shopping and spending the night so that they are nearer to the airport for their flight home tomorrow.

Sheryl & Paul

I have spent my first day on my own reading, watching TV, playing CC (level 347 has me grinding my teeth!) and planning for my next mini adventure......it rained all day.
